Chapter 13: The Villa No One Believed He Could Buy

Chapter 13: The Villa No One Believed He Could Buy

The Silver Maple Residences Sales Center was as lively as ever.

Sales consultants moved from table to table, enthusiastically introducing different villas to prospective buyers.

Some discussed payment plans.

Others finalized contracts.

The spacious showroom buzzed with conversation.

Charles quietly stood before one of the display tables.

He slowly flipped through the villa catalogue.

Every page displayed a different home.

Some were luxurious mansions.

Others were modern family villas.

His eyes finally rested on a particular property.

It wasn’t the largest villa in the estate.

Nor was it the most expensive.

In fact, several villas in the catalogue were worth over $40 million, reserved for Ashenford’s wealthiest families.

The villa Charles had chosen was much simpler.

A two-story lakeside villa with a spacious garden and private courtyard.

Elegant.

Peaceful.

Exactly the kind of place he wanted to live.

Below the picture were the details.

Maple Lake Villa No. 16

Sale Price: $3,200,000

Charles nodded slightly.

“This one.”

He closed the catalogue and walked toward the reception desk.

Not far away…

The middle-aged couple were still discussing their situation with another sales consultant.

The consultant sighed apologetically.

“I’m truly sorry.”

“But company policy requires a fifty percent down payment before the installment plan can begin.”

The husband lowered his head.

“So even after all these years…”

“It’s still not enough.”

His wife bit her lip.

They had worked tirelessly for over thirty years.

Skipping vacations.

Working overtime.

Saving almost every spare dollar.

Their dream had always been simple.

To retire in a peaceful villa together.

Unfortunately…

Reality had crushed that dream.

The husband let out a bitter laugh.

“I suppose we’ll have to give up.”

Just then…

Charles’ voice reached their ears.

“I’d like to buy Maple Lake Villa.”

The couple instinctively turned around.

The husband looked Charles up and down.

From his ordinary clothes…

To his plain shoes.

Then he laughed.

“A villa?”

“You?”

His wife looked equally amused.

“Young man…”

“Do you even know how much that villa costs?”

She folded her arms.

“My husband and I have worked for more than thirty years.”

“We’ve saved almost everything we’ve earned.”

“And even then…”

“We still couldn’t afford the required payment.”

Her eyes filled with disdain.

“And you’re telling us…”

“You can buy it?”

The husband shook his head.

“You youngsters today really know how to dream.”

“If people like us can’t afford that villa…”

“What makes you think someone dressed like you can?”

Their voices weren’t loud…

But they were loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.

Soon…

Several customers looked over.

One young businessman chuckled.

“Didn’t that guy get turned away earlier?”

Another customer laughed.

“I thought he would’ve left by now.”

A woman wearing expensive jewelry shook her head.

“Some people really enjoy embarrassing themselves.”

An elderly gentleman sighed.

“Young man…”

“There’s no shame in not having money.”

“But insisting on something impossible…”

“That’s just making a fool of yourself.”

Another customer nodded.

“If I were you…”

“I’d leave while I still had some dignity.”

Someone else added,

“This isn’t a place to pretend.”

The showroom gradually filled with quiet laughter.

Charles listened to every word.

His expression remained calm.

His breathing didn’t change.

He simply walked to the reception desk.

Placing the catalogue down, he said,

“I want to buy Maple Lake Villa.”

Silence.

The saleswoman who had dismissed him earlier looked over.

She glanced at the villa he had selected.

Then at Charles.

Slowly…

She shook her head.

In her opinion…

The young man before her wasn’t a customer.

He was simply wasting everyone’s time.

Without saying another word…

She turned away and resumed speaking with the wealthy clients gathered around her.

Completely ignoring him.

The customers exchanged amused glances.

Some shook their heads.

Others quietly laughed.

No one stepped forward.

No one believed he was serious.

Charles remained standing there.

Without raising his voice…

He repeated once more,

“I want to buy Maple Lake Villa.”

Again…

No one answered.

Just as the awkward silence settled over the showroom…

A soft voice spoke from behind him.

“Excuse me, sir…”

Charles turned around.

Standing a few steps away was a young woman wearing a neatly pressed business suit.

She looked no older than twenty-three.

Her employee badge still looked brand new.

She had only recently graduated from university and had joined Silver Maple Residences less than a week ago.

Unlike the others…

There was no ridicule in her eyes.

Only nervousness…

And sincerity.

She took a small breath before giving a polite bow.

“My name is Olivia Hart.”

“I’m a sales consultant here.”

“If you still wish to purchase a villa…”

“I’d be honored to assist you.”

The showroom fell silent.

Several sales consultants immediately looked toward Olivia.

One whispered,

“Isn’t she the new graduate?”

Another smirked.

“She really picked the wrong customer.”

The first saleswoman folded her arms.

“Poor girl…”

“She’s about to waste half her morning.”

Another consultant quietly laughed.

“She’ll understand how this business works soon enough.”

Ignoring every whisper around her…

Olivia kept her eyes on Charles.

She waited patiently for his answer.

Charles looked at the young sales consultant for a brief moment.

Then…

For the first time since entering the sales center…

A faint smile appeared on his face.

“Alright.”

“I’ll let you handle it.”
